In order to minimise damage and claims Volvo Penta has asked Volvo Logistics to make a study of packaging and transport optimisation.
"We will study the flow patterns from the warehouses and distribution centres in Skövde, Vara and Lundby," explains Christina Nyd, Supply Chain Consultant. The aim is twofold: to find ways to ensure that the engines always arrive in perfect condition and also to reduce costs by optimising the filling degree.
"Undamaged packaging and products is not only a question of claim costs, it’s also a question of maintaining quality as a brand value," says Bodil Hägg, Logistics Manager at Volvo Penta. "That’s why this study is so important for us."
The first results and recommendations will be delivered in April.
