After successful pilot projects in France and Germany, the Vehicle Tracker is now ready for implementation among Volvo Construction Equipment´s dealers across Europe. Vehicle Tracker has been developed on the basis of experience of a similar system for truck deliveries in North America.
"In brief, Vehicle Tracker collects the information from our A4D delivery system and presents it via a web interface," explains Ivan Branco, who is responsible for the implementation. "The dealer logs in from the Volvo Logistics portal and can easily find the updated delivery status of the machines that have been ordered."
The dealer can display the confirmed start date for the last stage of the transport process and the estimated delivery time, plus detailed information about the machine and the entire delivery process. When machines are unloaded at the dealer, a mechanic often has to be present. Using Vehicle Tracker enables the dealer to plan for the arrival of the machine more efficiently, saving both time and money.
